Distance Matrix - Will there be a new "mode" for public transport ??

Given todays announcement that Gmaps now has public transport data for london, when will the duration data for traveling by public transport be available on the Distance Matrix? Or are Google planning on releasing a new API for this information??

This really hinges on the availability of transit from the API.
