Most of you seem to be under the false assumption that Google tracks changes to dividends correctly - or even distributes amount on a given date of record/payout correctly.. If they "reinvest/drip" for you, what happens if the dividend payout added hasn't been updated in a year by GF? Google Finance is for general info purposes only - not to keep exact track of your money. I am not completely defending them - I wish they had many things added/fixed that aren't. (And there is no excuse as to why some things are not fixed - search me in GF group for more). But....
If you want DRIPs added to GF portfolio, just do it yourself - use your broker to track exact div payouts and then add your div (not cash linked)
manually when reported by your broker and you should at least be close to accurate...
As last response says:
"I can do math in my head. On paper too. I also have a calculator. Google does not have (to) hold everyone's hand."
Exactly-
Your financial data should be gathered by you and you only (namely, via your broker as they are responsible for inaccuracies - hopefully).
Read Google disclaimer again..
They are okay to view 'real time' quotes and graphs (when they are populated with accurate historical data - which isn't always the case, either see syms JOY or RTH as of today). Depending on them to gather current div amount or accurate payout dates or base an investment/spec on their data is another story...
Why they don't answer us (along these lines) themselves is another story... probably the same reasons why they cannot report accurately. Understaffed and they don't really care.. they have a disclaimer. lol
