Google Chat API Administration and Reporting Functionality

I think it would be helpful to have administration and reporting functionality present for the Google Chat service.  I've created an enhancement request at:

http://code.google.com/a/google.com/p/apps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=2784.  

Ideally, I believe Google Apps domain administrators need to be able to determine how chat is being used programmatically (number of chats per user, whether chats are outside of the domain if allowed, users in chat roster, etc).  I apologize if I've missed already-present functionality in either the Reporting or Chat API.

We agree that this can be a good feature for the admins. Thanks for the suggestion. You can retrieve chats using Email Audit API, but this API can be used only for lawful purposes in accordance with your Customer Agreement.

Hi Gunjan,

Thank you for the pointer.  The Audit API does a great job at getting to the contents of on-the-record chats.  I'm looking to get detail surrounding usage rather than content of actual chats.

However the user can disable the chat history without notification of the administrator, so there is a breach there, then the Email Audit API wouldnt log it right

That's my understanding, Alexandre.  Though this may be a limitation of the Audit API my specific interest lies in usage rather than content.

We have done an application however if the user disable the chat history it only alert us.
