Email Audit API and labels

I'd like to know if labels and sublabels are kept when you download a dumped mailbox in mbox format or if it flattens the mailbox.

From memory you get one mbox per label.

That does not seem to be true or maybe I did something wrong.
I dumped a mailbox with several labels and I got only one mbox. When I do get several mboxes, they often have the same size,  so I deduced that one mbox could only contain a fixed number of entries or could not exceed a certain size.

But I could have missed something while doing my dump  request

Since the Audit Exports are meant for compliance and legal purposes only, not archival or moving, labels are not retained in Audit Exports. If you need to export a user's mailbox for backup or migration purposes, consider using the IMAP protocol. OAuth is supported by Gmail's IMAP servers as well as some Gmail-ish proprietary commands (some specific to labels):
