CreateEmailList sometimes generates a 1301 (Entity does not exist) error.

Hi,

I know, I really need to upgrade to Groups and remove all reference to
the deprecated Email List functions and hopefully I will soon,
depending on project priorities...

I have noticed that sometimes (I haven't seen any kind of pattern
here) that when creating an Email List/Group using the .NET library
CreateEmailList method I get a 1301 "EntityDoesNotExist" exception.
This might not occur with CreateGroup and I don't expect this to be
fixed for CreateEmailList, but if anyone else is still using the
deprecated methods and gets the same problem, they might like to know
they're not alone.

If I log into Google as admin and search for the Email List/Group in
question it does actually show up, so it's gone some way to creating
it at least.

However, CreateEmailList does eventually return without an exception,
but it might fail a few times before it succeeds. Our software that
handles the creation of groups runs hourly during the day, so it might
take a few hours before our system is satisfied the group has been
created. Although this isn't an immediate problem for us, otherwise we
would have moved to CreateGroup already ;)

I tried creating Email List and could not reproduce your error. I successfully could create the Email List/Group.

Did you mean that when you try retrieving Email List after creating the you get  1301 "EntityDoesNotExist" exception, or just after CreateEmailList.

I could retrieve the group after creation immediately.

Just to remind you that Email Lists will be deactivated on January 16, 2012 as 3 years would be over then from the deprecation announcement.

So please switch to groups as soon as possible.

All client libraries were updated to replace email lists with groups, so you must use cURL to reproduce the issue. If the issue is valid, then you have to file a bug as we still support email lists (although it is very unlikely that someone will fix it). Also remind the customer that email lists will be deactivated on January 16 2012 (after 3 years from the deprecation announcement), so it is time for everyone to start using groups instead.

No, I'm not retrieving anything, which is why the error is puzzling,
I'm only calling 'CreateEmailList' at the point when the exception
occurs in my .NET code. As I say it doesn't happen all the time and
when the software runs an hour later it will retry the same
'CreateEmailList' call and it returns with the error code 1300
indicating that the list already exists, which makes sense because
after getting the 1301 "EntityDoesNotExist" error I can find the group
when searching for it in the Google Apps front end.

I sent some details of my domain and a couple examples of recent
instances of this problem with times and group names directly to
Gunjan, so I'll pass those to you in a separate message.

I could not find logs for your errors, as for privacy reasons, I can't access data for requests older than 8 days. 

Please monitor your future requests and let us know when you get the error, together with the details of the request, so that we can track it down on the logs.

A gentle reminder, please migrate to Groups as the Email Lists will be deactivated on January 16, 2012 on expiry of its 3 years deprecation period.
