Email, Google Site, Domain, etc. config question

my Google site www.olympiafurnishedhomes.com has domain hosted by MelbourneIT.  Due to issues with them, I created a gmail account and added my two email addresses .  I had to build an "administrative" Gmail email account. The Google email servers have been built into the Domain server at MelbourneIT.  I changed my gmail "hook" from mail.olympiafurnishedhomes.com to "use gmail".  

Do I have to buy the business Google Apps (seems like way more than I need) or am I just confused?  I can't seem to get Google Analytics or the verification code on my website, as there isn't really a "header" for me to place the code into, and the website strips it completely when I try to add it via the little HTML piece. I even added a fake header, but it stripped that, too.

It seems that having the Google servers added to the MelbourneIT server have made things worse, as perhaps I should have them remove their MX records in order to keep the servers from being confused.  I was hesitant to do that, as I didn't want my email down completely.....but, alas, it IS down completely.
