For some time now I've had all my emails from various accounts all forward to one central account.  I want to remove some from this centralized set.  GM Vault looks like it can do what I need.  I'm not very confident with command line programs and don't want to make any mistakes.  Hopefully someone can tell me the code I have to use to do what I'm trying to do.

I have a label called "business" and inside of there I have multiple sub labels to keep it all organized.  What would be the command line to backup all the emails in business and their sub labels as well as restore them to a new gmail?  Any help would be great!

Hi Chris,

All the best for 2013 and sorry for the late answer as I was away for Christmas.
You can use the custom mode and a Gmail search request to do what you want.
Then, Gmvault is limited by the Gmail search request engine as depending on how many sub-labels you have below business it can make a convoluted search request because you will have to list all sub labels.
There might be a better solution, have a look at the Gmail search request language description: http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=7190
Note that you could also split the work with several Gmvault "sync" commands targetting in the same Gmvault-db.
Below is an example on how to proceed. Let say that you have below business 3 labels: contract, todo and archive. Here is the kind of Gmvault settings you should use.

$>gmvault sync --type custom --gmail-req "in:business/contract OR in:business/todo OR in:business/archive" mye...@gmail.com -d ./my-db-dir

Let me know if it worked for you.

Best Regards,
The Gmvault developer
