ECNR stamp

Hi.. 

In my passport, at the second page, there is ECR stamp. As Pratibha Mam says, I require ECNR status. So, I need to get my passport reissued. Does anybody has any clue how to get it done? and how much time will it take?

Hi Mandeep
Emigration Check is required under Emigration Act, 1983. Only those having qualification below matriculation require it. It is relevant only for 20 odd countries (mostly in Gulf), and US is not in the list. However, as Pratibha is saying, you better do it.
Your passport aurhorities can put ECNR stamp cancelling ECR. Should not take more than 2-3 days. Meet passport officer personally and expina urgency. Which is your passport office? If in Punjab, pl let me know.

Hi, fellows who have already travelled to US, have you collected your travellers cheque from USIEF or they have send to the given address. I mean is that one has come in Delhi for that purpose before travel.
