Hi Andrew,

Please take a look at this older question where I explained this:
the form emailer doesn't process automatically upon a new form submittion.

If you still have any doubts after reading it, please feel free to ask, don't be shy.

Kind regards,
Henrique G. Abreu

Hi Henrique,

I don`t understand this - "...To see them, please select this cluster of merged cells on your sheet (starting on cell A5) and pick "break apart" from the toolbar..."

May you explain in another way?

Thank you!

Your spreadsheet, with FormEmailer set up, have at least two sheets. If you look in the bottom left of your spreadsheet you should see some buttons to select each. Something like: "Sheet1" and "FormEmailer".

Click on the FormEmailer sheet to open it. Then, click cell A5, that is probably merged with a lot of other cells adjacent to it, in a big white space without grid lines.
Then, after selecting these merged cells, look on the spreadsheet toolbar for a icon labeled "Break Apart", and then click it.

You should now see the instructions on how to set up the trigger.

Sorry, they have changed the tool name/tooltip and I did not notice.

This option is also available on the menu now. After selecting the merged cells (A5), click the menu Format > Merge cells > Unmerge.

I was able to find and unmerge the cells. I have found the way to set up/ change triggers. My question is How do I set a trigger so that it will send an email when I enter a value into a cell?

I am using this to send grades to students who have submitted online assignments. I use the form to collect URLs. I have added a column for me to enter the grade manually. I would like the program to only email those whose grades I have entered.

Another possibility would be to run it manually for a range of cells (as opposed to one at a time.) is this possible?

Hi,

Modifying the script is a somewhat complicated procedure. If you're really going to try it, you should study Google Apps Script tutorials and ask for help on Stackoverflow.

When Formemailer runs (on the timeDriven) function, it checks the first column (FormEmailer status), and if it is empty it process that row. Maybe it is easier for you to just delete the status of the rows you want to process and then run the timeDriven function. If you set it on a time-driven trigger already, to have it run automatically, then it will re-process this rows "in the next minute" when it is triggered.

On the "Process Manually" menu you can inform it process multiple rows by appending an "*" after the line number, e.g. "10*". Which means process "from line 10 to the end". It is not possible to inform an "ending line".

Tools/Script Editor/Resources/All Your Triggers/Add New Trigger

Make a Time Driven trigger on form submit.

FormEmailer/Settings

Make sure the "to" field in the emailer has a placeholder for the correct column where the email addresses of your students reside.  In other words, make sure you've selected the column where the email address is.

When you hit submit to input a student's grade in your form it will email it to them immediately.  I am a HS assistant principal and we use the script to automate emailing teachers the "results" of informal, walk-through observations.  It works perfectly.
