Hi all,

Just wanted to share some issues I have been having updating our Update site recently, as well as problems when installing plugins from other Update Sites.

1. Uploading to our update site: Sometimes, and I have not been able to pinpoint the conditions, the "Upload To" Action is not available even though the Update site is properly configured for uploading.

2. When selecting a subset of plugins to be installed from a given update site, the plugin chosen is not the same as the one that gets flagged for installation.

To make things a bit more clear, I here's a link to a PDF with examples of these two problems.

https://documents.epfl.ch/groups/p/pt/ptbiop-unit/www/UpdateSite%20Issues.pdf

Thanks for looking into this when you have the time.

Best

Oli

Hi Oli,

 2. When selecting a subset of plugins to be installed from a given update site, the plugin chosen is not the same as the one that gets flagged for installation.

I believe this is the same issue as reported here: https://github.com/fiji/Fiji_Updater/issues/3

There is definitely some skew between the UI and underlying data structures. You can work around the issue with some unfortunate effort by filtering down to the smallest set of plugins possible (e.g. if you just want to modify BIOPLib.ijm, put "BIOPLib" in the search field). If there's only one entry available in the UI it can't get confused as to which to modify.

I'm not as sure about your issue 1., but it could actually be the same as 2... in that, when you try to select "Upload To" from the action drop down menu, it might actually be attempting to modify a different entry than was selected (one you do not have credentials to upload).

Hope that helps,
Mark
