Dr Todd Mei obtained his bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of California, Berkeley. After making a feature-length independent
film with co-director Steve Edwards and editor Alan E. Bell, he worked as a claims adjuster for Chubb & Son and as a general manager for Boulders climbing gym. In 2008, he received his PhD under the supervision of Professor Jeremy Carrette (Kent) in the philosophy
of work. From 2008 to 2012, Dr Mei was a lecturer in the philosophy and religious studies departments at the University of Kent, and from 2012 to 2015, he was a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Dundee.
Dr Mei is a member of the Scottish
Centre for Continental Philosophy
Personal interests include birthday challenges, climbing, windsurfing and the occasional archaeological excavation (if his trowelling skills
are up to scratch).
