Report Progress

I will have a long running task in the mapper.

I only care about the exit code of the long running command.

How can I report progress to not timeout the task when using dumbo?

try using dumbo.util.setstatus(message) periodically within your mapper code

I am assuming you are talking about task timeouts 

Alternatively you can extend the timeout via hadoop option mapred.task.timeout
