Hello coworking friends!

I am getting started on a bit of research around localized coworking alliances (as opposed to global coworking alliances/networks, which I might have some questions about down the road), and thought I'd reach out here to the wide coworking world to see if there are any other alliances that I don't know about!

Do you collaborate in any fashion with other coworking spaces in your city/region? If so, I want to hear from you! Whether you have a kickball team, a shared marketing platform, or simply get together for beers eery now and again - it all counts in my book. So please, give me a shout.

Many thanks!

Susan

Hi Susan,

I've already posted about it before, but there's still a group in Prague, Czech Republic (inspired by your group in Seattle). Here's a blog post about it from February: http://blog.locusworkspace.cz/2012/02/recently-locus-workspace-has-teamed-up.html.

Best,
Will

Hi,

You know that we have CoworkingToronto, but we've also formed CoworkingOntario, which right now is:
  1. a discussion group for Ontario-specific things
  2. a working group for Ontario-specific projects (right now the project on the table is extended healthcare for members of our spaces)
  3. a reason to get to get together for space owners/managers a learning conference twice a year.
r.

Hi Susan, while not an official alliance, 3 spaces in NY's Hudson Valley collaborated to celebrate 3 years of coworking in the region through some outreach and coordinated open houses: http://beahivebzzz.com/blog/2012/05/3-groups-celebrate-3-years-of-coworking-in-hudson-valley/.

Happy to share any specific thoughts. Hit me off list.

Hi everyone,

In Surrey (a county in the UK) we've recently started having discussions between a few co-working spaces that are at different stages in their development. The purpose being that we want to raise the profile of co-working in Surrey and so we've set up a place holder web site and a Twitter handle accordingly. Also several other co-working spaces outside of Surrey have expressed an interest in joining forces. I think this is part of the key to our success and that we'll definitely gain more by trying to work together. I recently came across LEXC (http://lexc.org/) in the US which I think is a good idea and I'd like to emulate something similar. If there is a shared platform for booking rooms and anything else that is relevant then we can all share the costs and reap the benefits.

Regards,
Alec

Excellent idea!  Love the LEXC model and the local concept.  Am in Shropshire - lets keep in touch.

Best regards

Fay

Hi Fay,

Almost all the chatter is done on Twitter at the moment. Our Twitter handle is @digitalworkhub and the group is @coworkingsurrey.
Feel free to make contact on either of these or email me directly and we can chat further.

Regards,
Alec
