A .cowork or .coworking Top Level Domain?

[Imran Ali]

I guess this might be late now, but with ICANN's recent opening of top level domains, it struck me that a .cowork or .coworking domain might be a great illustration of the global coworking movement.

I think the application fee was $175k - by sharing the fee, the administration and profit of the TLD amongst all coworking communities would have been a fantastic illustration of coworking values :)

Did someone already discuss this here?

[Jerome Chang]

You're kidding, right? $175k! We can't even scrounge up enough for the coworking wiki and that's less than half that amount.

That $175k is an *application* fee, not an actual purchase price.

I don't think there's any way to see that kind of return even if the TLD were awarded because even if we shared it, the mass market still thinks every domain ends with "dotcom".

Hey, does that mean that this is a good time to remind people to contribute to the Coworking Wiki Upgrade Project? :) If you haven't checked out the project website recently, please head on over, read a bit, check out what we're working on, and donate! We are working to improve the Coworking Wiki on behalf of all coworking spaces everywhere. Pretty neat, eh?
