Hi there.

First of all, thanks for the great work, I find that Coojah & Blader is by far the easiest way to get to the online streams! Congrats for the great job.

Ok, I have an issue that is a bit annoying under Windows Vista:
As soon as I turn on Coojah, Windows shuts down all sort of programs that basically produce some network activity. Such as Firefox, Thunderbird, Dropbox, Skype... etc, and it says that to help protect my computer DEP (Data Execution Prevention) has closed Skype (for instance).
So it's been an issue since I could not even keep Firefox open long enough to let Coojah sniff what I was after.
Anyway, under Windows (Vista), one can go to

System properties > Advanced > Performance > Data Execution Prevention > Turn on DEP for all programs... except those I select: > And add Coojah there.

This will indeed let Coojah and Firefox work in peace together. But still, all the other programs are being shut down progressively, by Window's DEP.
I guess I could also select them as exceptions to DEP, one by one, alongside with Coojah but it's a bit cumbersome (you have to restart after each addition), furthermore this is only necessary when Coojah is on as I explained above.

Any one else facing this issue ?

Regards.

Hello dindeman,

just out of curiosity, why do you use Windows Vista? I am on XP and 7 and have never had such strange behaviour or errors. What you describe as the Windows DEP error sounds pretty damn annoying.

Since I am not on Vista I can't reproduce this error. However I will try and help you with it.

What comes to mind first is turning off the DEP service completely as admin user for example in the msconfig menu or in services itself.

If you worry about security I would suggest Avira and Comodo, both free, for excellent protection. Comodo does have DEP but surly wont shut down programs when you run Coojah.

I have Coojah installed alongside Comodo and it works flawless plus giving me all the other benefits of protection and a solid firewall.

What I suggest you try:

-Get rid of DEP (service) ->let me know if this fixed your problem
-Get rid of Vista and use XP or 7 -> if you need help with that let me know
-If you are worried about security try Avira (for virus protection) and Comodo Firewall (for DEP and lots of other protections) -> again if you have questions about this let me know

Hope this helps, sort of.

Alternatively to Sam's reply (although I do agree that Comodo is a
good choice of Firewall/Sandboxing/etc.) Don't enable Coojah for every
programme, only add the ones you want to sniff to the list.
