Dear CCHS Members,

Hackerspaces are the #1 cool places to hang out and make friends with like minded people making neat stuff. You can get invaluable help and tips on projects from other people who have been soldering on for years! CCHS is growing rapidly with many more people wanting to join or get involved in many different ways. Because we love to share, we thought it was a good time to design a CCHS survey so you could tell us what interests and strengths you have.

The survey is designed to give CCHS members (such as yourself) an idea about who else is interested in the same things as you! So when you take the leap to start on your 3D printed wearable robotic raspberry pi drone you have a possible resource to help.
The first step is to collect the data, and we have done quite a bit of work gathering suggestions to make the survey as comprehensive as possible.

We encourage you to please try and complete the survey by Thursday Nov 1, 2012. The more people who participate the more we can share your skills around our amazing community.

If you have any questions, please email them to us.

Thanks,
Rosie X and Zac W.

hi All,

Thanks Zac and Rosie for taking the initiative and running with this.

In general, CCHS members should feel encouraged to take matters into their own hands and see what they can do.  Coordinating and collaborating with other members (for group projects) is more likely to result in a good outcome.

The CCHS and its membership has grown fairly organically ... and it can be hard to know who's who and how to accomplish things within the group.  In that respect, you can treat it a bit like an adventure game ... try things and see what happens.

Looking forward to seeing the summary of the result.

I filled out the survey, but there's heaps of information I left out, so I'm happy to be contacted if you want to know more.

Survey looks great! It's compact but really covers a lot. Will do it
once I get out of work!

I agree, nice job… but…

Pity it only acknowledges the Arduino and RPI though.
I know about 8 other processors, but not (yet) those two.
How 'bout "other" CPUs?

Also, Radio is pretty-well distinct from Analog and Digital
as an electronics skill set.

That said, I'm not local any more. Maybe I don't count :).

I might add one small complaint to that list. C++ is a good question since it is ubiquitous in hardware development. But the other language mentioned was Python. It would have been better to choose a language at that point for proficiency.

Hey Scot et al
All great suggestions and feedback is most welcome! Those into software development will appreciate that this is possibly a first iteration. And although the survey might not be perfect, I don' think it's especially flawed, nor won't be useful in improving the knowledge base of CCHS. Sure it can be improved and modified down the track, but if we haltered development to include all possible permutations of interest and skill, it would never have reached the light of day!! Would be great for peeps to put their suggestions into the survey itself, there are free text fields for this purpose. Then when maybe another survey is done [down the track] these can also be included. We can also collate the data in a way that provides a snapshot of further ideas, interests and skill sets. I appreciate you taking the time to participate.
Cheers, rosiex

Also, there's a huge spectrum (yeah) of different skills and technologies and specialised areas that can come under the heading of "radio" itself.

Cheers,

Gentle reminder for those you haven't yet completed the CCHS skills survey. If, you haven't yet done so, please do, that would be awesome.!!

Thank you, Rosie
