Could not find an answer looking through the forum threads so here goes:
I just purchased a Logitech Revue and downloaded the Concerto app. I set the app to be loaded at startup, but all I get is a black screen with the upside-down android logo in the top left corner and the URL that I configured for my concerto server in purple.
If I click on the url, the screen starts showing, but the dimensions are completely off.
If I exit the app, then come back and restart it, the screen paints correctly and the dimensions are correct and everything works. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Vince

I have a similar issue.  I receive the URL in purple with the upside down android, but when I click the link, nothing happens.  I have set up the screen in the concerto dashboard and I am running a in house server.  What step/s am I missing?

Thanks,
Stephen

That upside down android logo is the default 404 page on Android.  I need to build out a custom 404 page for Concerto so it doesn't look so lame / useless.

If clicking the link works, maybe the app might be firing up before the network connection is ready.  Are you connecting via Wifi?

If clicking the link doesn't work, I'd assume that the Concerto app is never able to connect to the Concerto server.  Check the settings and make sure the server URL ends in a trailing "/" and represents the full path to your Concerto server, like http://your.concerto.server/ or http://server/concerto/.

Thanks,

Brian,

Thanks for the feedback.  I put in the full path with the trailing "/" and now I just get a blank screen.  I don't get the upside down android with the url.  Just a full black screen.  Any ideas?

Thanks.

Strange, I'd visit that URL on computer; typing in http://<url from the tv>?mac=AAA and see if you get the same black screen.  If you get the blue "Screen not found" page as we'd expect for a bad mac then I'd make sure the Logitech Screen is correctly configured with a template and feeds and content (maybe you're using a black template with no feeds?).  If you get the black page again using the fake AAA mac address, I'd double check the path and server logs; I don't think Concerto should ever render a totally black page.

Last fall I ordered a number of the Logitec Revue Google TV units and had run into a similar black screen problem during initial configuration and upgrade. After searching some of the Logitech forums I came across several posts indicating that there is a bit of a glitch in the way the HDMI signaling syncs with the screen the Revue is connected to as it boots up - if you end up with the totally black screen, just try unplugging one end or the other of the HDMI cable connecting the Revue to your LCD, wait for 30 seconds or so, reconnect the HDMI cable on both ends and see if you get a picture.

I don't know if this will resolve your issue or not, but it is something I have seen and been able to overcome similar symptoms with in the past, although it occurs sporadically with no apparent cause. I've had similar black screen issues with a Revue connected to my home set through just switching through various input selection options, again with no consistency. This particular inconsistency has given me a fair amount of doubt about using the Revue boxes as display players, particularly when installed in a situation that would be benefited by the ability for the Concerto display to be expected to start up from an un-atteneded power-up situation.

Hey Brian,

I tried the below with the fake mac address and I received the following.  "&ER=Unknown command"

Does this mean something is configured wrong at the server level?

Thanks.

Probably, I'd expect a blue page like http://demo.concerto-signage.com/?mac=ER.

Yes, I'm using Wifi.

I clicked the link after a couple seconds and it did not work.
Then waited a couple more and clicked, then it reached the server. So it looks like WiFi is taking a while to connect, so you get the 404 error.
Can you build in a delay on startup, or have the 404 page automatically refresh until it connects.

Secondarily, when it does reach the server click on it, the screen appears "zoomed in" on the top left corner of the screen.

(NOTE: When I open the app by itself manually, everything seems to work just fine.)

Thanks,
Vincent

Based on what I'm reading above, I'm getting the sense that the Logitech boxes are not really suited for an unattended (self-boot, self-start) installation.

Does anyone have any positive stories using these boxes?
Or what alternatives are there?

I was hoping to have a stable, cost-effective solution with these boxes and running the concerto software.
I would like to have a solution that can survive a network connection loss, but could possibly live with the "freeze". But it has to be able to boot by itself.

Thanks,
Vincent

If the device boots up correctly and loads the Concerto GTV app we can add logic to wait for a network connection and the screen details.  I haven't had a chance to play around with either of these, but I suspect the screen size is very similar to the wifi.... the screen properties aren't yet available when the app loads.  No ETA on when I'll actually write this code, but it seems technically feasible.

Our primary focus has always been on thicker Linux clients where the init process is a bit better defined / understood.  If stability / uptime is critical the linux clients are probably the way to go... we're just starting to figure out this Google TV stuff (compared to Linux clients which have been running for >4 years).  Every platform will demonstrate the same "freeze" when we loose network connectivity, that's a Concerto V1 limitation, nothing hardware specific.

Thanks, hoping it happens soon. I might have to upgrade to a Linux box, client, but with 10 locations that will hit my pocketbook :(
Hoping the caching will come soon, too. That will really put this solution on the next level.

Really like the features on the server side. Pretty easy to understand with not too many complex things to go through. Like the approval functionality, too.
