Hey guys I've been wanting to help build a web IDE for a while. Especially for Java. It would be a lot of fun to work with smart people to tackle some of the harder problems that plage IDEs and in turn help improve my productivity. 

I think c9.io is pretty awesome, but its GPL. There are plugins I would like to create for work that can't be open sourced. (nor would they be useful for anyone except for fellow co-workers)

It sucks, but that's the way it is. Plus I think it would be better if it was written in Java just so people can write plugins in Java or other scripting languages supported in Java. This way people can create .vimrc-like files with commands written in their language of choice. 

I want to know a bunch of things about this project. Basically, where does it stand, where its going? Who is doing what, etc?

I would like to put together a real site with design docs, user docs, all information a new developer can read and be able to join the team, contribute, use, etc.

I know most people from the original team was from Atlanta. Anyone move to NYC? :) - where I'm from. 

Can you guys meetup to re-kick start this project? See who is still on board, everyone meet each other and answer some questions? I'll make an agenda.

For anyone in NYC I can get a room for us to Google Hangout :) in. And everyone else can join the hangout.

How does that sound? Maybe Sept 19th at 7pm EDT? Let me know if you want to join and I'll send out a Google Calendar invite.

Hey Joe, sorry no one responded to your post. I think most of the people who previously worked on the project are occupied with other things at the moment. If you're interested in picking up where we left off, your best bet might be to find a couple of other people who want to work with you to take the project somewhere. If you start submitting patches, I think someone is likely to take some interest and give you feedback. Feel free to ask questions about the code on the discussion list.

Yeah, I'd say you caught us all at a bad time.  All of us are have been in new roles getting up to speed on new projects, which requires total focus for a while to get fully immersed.  None of us have had any spare cycles.  :(

Hi Joe.

I wasn't on the original team, but I am hoping to revive the project and continue development.

I have an updated fork online @ https://github.com/WeTheInternet/collide and will begin posting the good bits to master shortly.

The only big feature I've added is a gwt super dev mode recompiler that allows collide to recompile and essentially "hotswap" its own frontend.

Details on my fork in the readme.

Also, I'll be presenting the project at the GWT.create conference this December in San Francisco.  http://gwtcreate.com
If you are able to make it to the conference, I'd be glad to meet with you and discuss putting together a project roadmap.
