FYI!  GOOD NEWS!

Hello Derek,

We like to support clubs, hack spaces and collectives and appreciate that funds can be stretched after machine building.

As such, we would like to offer your collective a complementary CamBam license (see following).

This is for use within the club and may be copied onto multiple machines.
If your members would like to purchase a personal license for their own use that would be appreciated and they can use the following discount
code : CBHACK1
This will save $10 off the list price.

Don't forget, even after the 40 evaluation uses are up, you can still run unlicensed CamBam to work on drawings with just the gcode output limited to 500 lines
so another option is for people to work on designs at home, then bring them in to the group's licensed computers to generate g-code.

I hope this helps.
If you have any interesting projects, we always like to hear about them... and if you can give CamBam a mention on any web blogs etc, that is also very much appreciated.

Have fun with your new machine!

Regards

Hi CamBam looks very good.  I work for the University of Kentucky and also part of an artists collective in Lexington KY called \"The Collexion\"  We built a 4x8 CNC mill and are looking at various CAM package.  There are several of us interested in the software and I\'m sure that some people will want a license on their personal laptop.  The club has a little money left in our budget for software and CamBam seems like a good option.

Is there any kind of multi-user license?  My guess is there maybe 5-10 of us initially who would like to use the software on different PC\'s.  If I buy a personal license can I use it on a work desktop on campus and personal laptop at home?

Your software looks really good and is priced very attractively.  I\'m not trying to be cheap and not pay, just asking all the questions that my club members will be asking me if we decide to go with CamBam.

Thanks for your help

Awesome! Thanks for getting the sweet hookup, Derek.  Can't wait to play with it.

Hey, Derek.  I played with CamBam for ~2 hours at home tonight and am impressed!  I could see designing and g-coding many simple (and not-so-simple) parts entirely with CamBam.  Easy to use, but still visibility into advanced settings.

Maybe we can design and cut our hall effect sensor mounts tomorrow night.  I think I posted (months ago) some designs I found on Joe's forum... but really, all they are is a block with a couple of bolt holes and a slot for the sensor.  Similar for the magnet holders.  Bet we could knock those out easy enough...

I'll be eager to compare notes.  I haven't done anything with importing a design from CAD...and probably won't have time to any time soon.

See you Wed pm.

I finally got to dive into CamBam today and I am also impressed.  I have been playing with several other pieces of software (LazyCAM, ArtCAM, FreeMILL) and they either had a very steep learning curve or just didn't work the way I wanted.

I felt comfortable with CamBam in less than an hour after watching their videos.  I was able to import some previous CAD files I drew and download some new ones for testing.  I found it very simple to organize the job and create the G-code.

The most important part was that it integrated with Mach3 perfectly.  Just load the file, set your origin point, press START and watch the magic.  I cut several test pieces today on the little CNC at home.  I also re-cut the first thing I ever made on the machine and it definitely worked better, faster and cleaner than the original piece.

Sorry for the long e-mail but I'm excited that my machine is finally working the way I originally envisioned.  Let me know when you guys are heading back to the (building, Collexion, house, shop, ???) to work on the big cnc.  I think we can get the cords up and out of the way in just a few minutes so you don't have to chase them around until the wireway is cut.

It looks like I'll be buying a license when my evaluation uses are gone.

Keith,
That is good news.  Glad to hear CamBam is working well for you too.  I might possibly head to the space tomorrow.  I'd like to cut another set of bulkhead templates.  I'll look for the bungie cord I have.
My cell is 859.312.8789.
Probably early afternoon before I can make it there.

Hey, Derek - I fired up CamBam on the router computer today and it said the eval period had expired.
