I'm free to come out Saturday.  Might have to leave a little early...2 or 3 pm.  Janine might hang with us for the day, as well!

I can see three potential projects for the day:

1. The most exciting one is getting motors turning.  James - I'm guessing that without a parallel port on your machine at home, there's no news to report there?  Sounds like we have several machines offered up - the touch screen, the one Chris Harn said he'd drop off Wednesday.  I ordered a new power supply for the Dell I brought last week, but I don't expect to get the power supply by this weekend.  Jason or Dustin - would one of you volunteer to head up getting at least one of these machines up and running, either with Windows so we can get Mach3 going, or Linux if you'll commit to getting EMC running?

2. Wiring.  We need to do all the wiring in the enclosure, and some of the wiring downstream of the enclosure (some of the limits, check the e-stop, power to the router.  Can you make it this weekend, David D?  If not, can you post the wiring diagram you offered?

3. Paint.  We gotta do it sooner or later...this will be a good "filler" project for a day we can't do anything else.  I guess this is my backup project if #1 or 2 don't pan out for this weekend.  Weather looks pretty ideal for painting.  Should we prime it first?

Am I missing anything?  FWIW, we could, in theory, work on two of these simultaneously if we have the manpower.

So, I'll be there Saturday morning around 9 or 10, until mid-afternoon.  (If no one else says they're coming by late Friday night, I reserve the right to bail, so chime in if you're planning on on being there.)

Love,
-dave

Surprise!  The power supply showed up today. Amazing fast!  I'll fire it up tonight or tomorrow and see if the rest of the computer (and the PS, for that matter) are functional.

Anyone know if Chris dropped off that other PC Wednesday?

Anyone else going to the space tomorrow?  At this point, I'm not sure how much good I can do there solo, so I'm leaning toward staying home and getting caught up on some family commitments.  Speak up if you're going down, please!

Chris dropped off the computer as promised.  I had some free time tonight so I headed down to the space and guess what.......

ITS ALIVE!   bahhaaaaa....bahhhhh.....bahhhhh    ITS ALIVE

I got Mach3 successfully installed and the parallel port configured on the desktop.  The trouble earlier was those pesky laptop parallel ports.  I slaved the x and a aixs and got the direction correct for both.  I still need to adjust the scale (steps/in) in the motor settings but it moves under computer control.  The y axis is nice and smooth, the z axis as well.  The x axis, no so much, one side is binding up and stalling the motor, need to investigate this more.  Took a quick video but need to get it uploaded, never down that before.

But, the bad news I will be tied up Saturday most of the day and Sunday as well and can't work on it then.

One major milestone complete, just a few more!

James
