The Sandhill Crane was still there today (Mon) at 1030 AM.
The bird was difficult to see because it was mostly below the horizon i.e., only its head and neck were
showing and there is lots of corn stubble of about the same height and width as the crane's neck.
After I found it with binoculars, I did scope it. Very nice in the morning sunlight.
It was in the vicinity of a distant oil or gas well head.

My husband, Jamie, and I were on our Wintering Raptor Survey route ( East County ) this morning and saw a large adult Sandhill Crane standing alone in a field, about 500 yards from the road we were on ( 115th ) around 11:30 am. The location of the bird was on 115th street approximately .5 miles south of the intersection with CO 52. The field was a harvested corn field to the west of 115th.

At 3pm today the Sandhill Crane was ion the same location as Jack mentioned earlier, but it was out of the depression and in full view.
