Couple of new Alteration Powers, Imbue and Shapechange:  https://sites.google.com/site/chimerarpgconversions/powers#TOC-Alteration

The Imbue Power links to some information on Masterwork and Elite items: https://sites.google.com/site/chimerarpgconversions/generalmechanics/masterwork

I've also started plugging Fiends into Chimera: https://sites.google.com/site/chimerarpgconversions/bestiary/fiends  - only the Succubus/Incubus done so far, because I needed it right away.

Hi October,

Nice work. One question about Imbue: is it necessary to create Masterwork or Elite items, or does it simple "store" a power in an otherwise mundane item?

Also, like the fiends--that's a project that's been on my backburner for a bit.

Cheers,

Speaking of fiends, I wonder if there shouldn't be a sticky post just for Monster Contributions?

It can store power in ordinary items, too.  You could have a beat-up old backpack with Fly Imbued on it (whoo hoo! Jet packs!).  The MW and Elite are just easier to Imbue.

And a sticky category for monsters would be awesome.

I just realized Shapechange should be under Enchantment.  I'm guessing this would also be where nature-shaping spells would go?  Like, if you wanted to shape a thorn-thicket into a wall or shape a tree so that there's a living area inside it, with windows.

As the rules define Enchantment, yeah, Shapechange is probably better assigned to Enchantment, since it's designed to affect living targets.

But you definitely have wiggle room, depending on how you think the power "works." For example, it could be a Summoning power if the change required temporary possession by some spirit of the creature whose form you take. Or maybe Illusion if the change was more about appearance than getting the new form's capabilities.

Where to assign nature-shaping spells? Depends. Your thorn-wall or tree house could be enchantments. Could be Abjurations if they're all about protection or warding. Could be Alterations if they only work on dead vegetation.

Go nuts. ;)

I've been busy...

On the Chimera RPG Conversions site there are now conversion notes for Summerland and Supernatural RPGs, and because of Supernatural's Assets and Complications, there are a few more new Perks, a new Sperk or two, and a bunch more new Flaws to play with.

One of my favorites as an Evil GM is Rotten Luck: Once per gaming session, the GM can force you to reroll an action and take the worst result.

You roll with a tough crowd, October. ;) Rotten Luck *is* evil. I mean, on one hand, the player *did* choose the Flaw. On the other, the GM gets to choose when it's used.

In my old group, I'd have to soften it to avoid looking like a dick. Possibly: Turn one Normal Failure per session into a Critical Failure. The player would already be disappointed with the failure, but then I "tweak" it a bit by making it *just* a bit worse (for dramatic purposes, of course). One caveat: the Critical Failure cannot result in immediate character death - rotten luck means dealing with crap, and PCs don't get off by dying ;)

Nice work - I'm still checking out the conversions.

Side note: making good progress with the RTF update to Chimerapedia. More detail in a separate post, but I'll also say this: there will be some extra goodies in the upgrade.

That's odd - I didn't delete it.

Unlike your other messages, it showed up in the moderation queue (probably because of the "t" word - Google must have done that, because you're not moderated).

But I approved it yesterday and thought it posted. Let me check on that.

Hi October,

I'm still not clear on exactly what happened. According to the Google help file, only the post's author or group moderator can delete a post. I'm calling shenanigans on Google (which may be wrong), but here's my thinking:

I got a message yesterday that your post was in the moderation queue. I thought that was odd, because your account is not moderated (cause you, like, post useful stuff). I read the post and approved it; I double-checked, and it was posted.

However, the Group's content setting is set to "Everyone," so it's possible that after a crawl of the messages, Google saw the "t' word and decided to delete it.

Personally, I'm not offended, but I don't want to switch the Group to "Adult only," so I'd recommend that we all be careful about words and language.

Sorry for the inconvenience - by all means, repost an edited version of your reply.

Cheers,
-Erin

Ah, no worries.  It wasn't important enough to try to recreate.  I'm just really glad I didn't offend, because I can be pretty crude sometimes.

Now I'm off to figure out what I'm going to write for tomorrow's World Building post.

Oh, that's easy - when in doubt, write about how cool Chimera is. That's always a crowd-pleaser! ;)

BTW, I'm really enjoying your world-building posts. You make it seem very easy, and I like the balance you've struck between detail and flexibility.

Chimera is so cool that I'm converting all of my different ongoing campaigns to the Chimera system!

Really.

And it's amazing what will spring from my head when in a pinch.  No, not Athena, but close!  The next RPG World Building post is on gods.

That's exciting - I think you'll be very pleased with the upcoming Chimerapedia Core update - I'm adding lots of goodies to the Core, all from the dim ages of the extinct Chimera 2.0.

Looking forward to tomorrow's post.

Cheers,

Erin,

Just an FYI: I saw your test post in my email daily summary, but I cannot see it here.

That one I can explain - it was posted, but I deleted it. The fact that it got emailed seemed to indicate acceptance.

(Did you get an email copy of your post before it was deleted?)

Also, my test wasn't a good one - not sure if it stuck because I'm the group owner.

Commencing test:

In the beginning, there were boobies.  Some folks called them tits and that was fine.  For testing purposes they used the words crap, shit, and doodie, which were all the same substance that emerged from ....

Okay, I'll stop now. :)
