Installing CF9 on Win7 HP

I just got a new laptop with Win7 Home Premium and I'm stuck trying to install CF9
Previous experience installing CF9 on Win7 Pro lead me to believe that I should first install using the built in java server then use the web server config tool to connect to IIS7, then I could create a Conly website with its own app pool.
So when I try the web server config tool I get this error
"ASP.NET Window's feature is not installed. They are required to configure the IIS7 connector."
A bit of googling suggest that I turn off IIS compatibilty, but it was never turned on in the first place.
Another source suggests adding ASP.NET to the server role for IIS, that might be fine for Win 2008 server but I can't find any options to do that on Win7 HP.
Should I just start again and select IIS7 as the web server from scratch?

The compatibility to IIS 6 is only needed when you install ColdFusion 9. If you don't run the administrator, you can upgrade to ColdFusion 9.01 and then run the Administrator.

IIS 7/7.5/8 require that certain features be installed, which are not installed by default. IIS itself of course, and the cgi/isapi options need to be installed as well.
I think there are hundreds of examples of what needs to be switched on that people have blogged, the only thing you need to ignore is the IIS6 compatibility, but only if you install the update before running the administrator.

Sorry but that link really doesn't help with this particular. I have installed CF9 a number of times on both WinServer 2008 and Win7Pro but i have never struck this error before.
IIS compatibilty is turned off but the error remains.

You're right it doesn't mention that you also need the ASP.net stuff, which is also in the same area as IIS add ons. Make sure that you have the ASP.net 3.5 stuff added.
But if you install ColdFusion 9.01 you should not need to run the Web Server Config tool, the only reason you would need to do this is if it fails. Which by the sounds of it is doing, because of the required things needed. As you are now finding out.

problem solved by starting "Turn windows features on or off" and Enabling all the features under

You don't need all the features of those 2, Application Development has the ASP.net and the ISAPI so if you want to lock it down, you can remove in the Application Development the following
*ASP
* CGI
*Server Side Includes
In the Common HTTP Features the following are not needed.
*HTTP Redirection
*WebDAV Publishing
