Does this only apply to past events or new events?

If this issue is with and past events, you may have restored two separate back-ups. If you restored your data from the backup/restore that gets saved to your SD card AND you allowed it to restore from your "Permanent Account" (Google) back-up option, you will get double entries.

I had this happen once. The back up from google does NOT let you display maps of the restored work-outs. I ended up reseting again and only bringing in a restore of the back-up from my SD card.

It's been awhile since I've done this so I forget how the Permanent / Google account (used to be Google Health) thing works...

If you're getting double entries for new workouts, I'm not sure what is causing that.
