seems this pursuit is catching on...

what would be interesting to me though is for someone to look at the barriers for more diverse groups of people getting into hunting... time has been one for me, as I was out of town for work and extremely busy in September/October during deer season up in Weaverville (where I've been planning to go hunting as I have grandparents-in-law up there with property bordering national forest).  But the other major obstacle is having a place to store guns and ammo, which some people in my household are not comfortable having in the house... and I imagine some other folks might face a similar issue.

Thoughts? What has kept you from getting out hunting as much as you would like?

Good article.  The number one cause for me not getting out as much as I like to (or used to) is being a new parent.  Prior to that, it was time and distance - there are very limited big game hunting opportunities in the greater bay area; I personally have to drive about 4 hours to get to my in-law's property.  Most folks in California aren't even that fortunate: they have to drive hours and pay a bunch of cash to have any kind of decent chance, or they have to spend multiple weekends busting brush in Los Padres or some other national forest area.

Thanks for sharing the article.

Anyone else been hunting this season?  How has it been for everyone?  I got a couple hogs this season: the first went about 120lbs and the second was closer to 150.

For me, it's mostly a matter of just not really knowing the area well enough. I don't have family here, and am not really comfortable going on my own.
