I would like some information as to how to ask our gardener how to spray our garden for ticks, he only speaks hungarian and we only speak english, could you please tell me the Hungarian work for tick, or is there sometng we could buy to spray the area. I have 2 children and they love playing in our garden but reading the stories on the web site I am now worried about them being bitten. Thank you. Miss Tracy lock.

In this case print this out:

(dear gardener)

kerem hogy az egesz kertet kullancs ellen kezelje le, amilyen gyakran csak szukseges
(please spray around the whole garden with something against tics)

I dont have some hungarian letters on my computer, but if he wants he willunderstand what yopu want.

I did a big research about ticks because we had a lot of them in our garden. Its much better now because the dry, hot summer in two last year killed most of our grass so the ticks are gone :)

Anyway, the spray they used in gardens against ticks were band in Hungary because it was deemed too toxic, some companies still have in stock and can spray it for you but its not officially legal. Plus the company that came out to spray our place for Bees said spraying against ticks doesn't last but a few weeks and it takes a single bird to drop on tick and the boom is off again.

Ticks love, moist shadely areas - grass so having the grass really short helps keep them off. Spraying the kids, and checking them every evening helps too. A tick needs to be in one for about 12hrs to spread the disease so checking them and removing them in time is key to prevention.

GL!

Also beware, those of you who have cats and dogs. I once got a tick on my stomach that could only have gotten there from the cat I held in my lap...
