Ruby install erro BBB 0.8 - sudo gem install hello

Hi,
During the installation of BBB 0.8 got an error when giving the command "sudo gem install hello".
I need help.

root@user-desktop:/# sudo gem install hello
ERROR:  Loading command: install (LoadError)
    no such file to load -- zlib
ERROR:  While executing gem ... (NameError)
    uninitialized constant Gem::Commands::InstallCommand

Hmm ... can you past the output of

   dpkg -l | grep zlib

Hi Fred,

I tried installing a new instance of BBB but I get this LoadError when executing "gem -v";

<internal:lib/rubygems/custom_require>:29:in `require': no such file to load -- rubygems (LoadError)

        from <internal:lib/rubygems/custom_require>:29:in `require'

        from <internal:gem_prelude>:167:in `load_full_rubygems_library'

        from <internal:gem_prelude>:217:in `try_activate'

        from <internal:lib/rubygems/custom_require>:32:in `rescue in require'

        from <internal:lib/rubygems/custom_require>:29:in `require'

        from /usr/bin/gem:8:in `<main>'

The output of dpkg -l | grep zlib is:

ii  zlib1g                                        1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3ubuntu4                         compression library - runtime

ii  zlib1g-dev                                    1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3ubuntu4                         compression library - development

Any help will be appreciated.
