Google Voice in Germany (test phase)

Hi guys,

Google Voice is now available in Germany, too. It's still in testing but you can try it out.

There's also an android app available: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.apps.googlevoice

Remember: It's not free from Germany to call a normal phone (but most certainly cheaper than other services). And also keep in mind that malicious scripts/apps could waste your money by calling high-price-numbers.

I'm not sure I'm getting this. The above URL seems to install the
GoogleTalk Voice/Video Chat plugin which is available for a while now.
But, yes going to http://google.com/voice seems to let me in.

However I'm at a loss what I can do with it. As I understand, Google
Voice in the US gives me a real phone number and manages my real phone
number of my land line and mobile. It allows me to set forwards and
voice mail boxes and gives me lots of control on how to handle
callers. Or so I heard. I see nothing of that functionality in my
Google Voice interface.

So what is the news about?

You can load money on your "Google checkout" account,

and you dial numbers through Google Voice, which will spend that money then.

Yes, apparently, so far, they don't offer you a number, that you can get called on.

Ausloggen, neu einloggen – hat bei mir geholfen.

Inzwischen (irgendwann einmal gestern Abend) hatten sie das Feature in Good Old Germany dann auch tatsächlich eingeschaltet.

telefoniert habe ich mangels Guthaben noch nicht, aber es erscheint
keine Fehlermeldung sondern die Zifferntastatur. Vermutlich würde es
wohl funktionieren.

I'm looking forward to the moment where google voice is available in Germany.
Specially with the service having only one number, like in the US.
Dialing a number out of google/mail works pretty well, it even shows up my US Google voice number :)

Hi Stefan,

When I click on the link (I am in California now) I get the dial pad in my gmail. However, I do not get an invitation to choose a number in a German city (which is the part that interests me the most).

Is that also planned or not part of the local program?
