My wife and I were planning out our garden and I realized that I need to plan on some hops too.  Does anyone have Rhizomes they are selling or otherwise willing to part with?  I know North Corner has had some for sale in spring in the past, anything planned this year Robert?

I could probably stand to split my Cascade rhizomes up a bit.

Thanks Dustin, I will get some commercial offering in about 40-60 days, but you can likely find all the free rhizomes you want through the group, just plan for optimal growth.  You might focus on good aroma hops for dry and wet hop applications.  Or pick a high alpha bittering and low alpha flavor for options.  Here's some info:

Hops (Rhizome or Plant)

Plant rhizome(s) in loose, composted, full-sun exposed soil.  Water consistently during peak growth: June-Sept.  Choose 2-3 healthy vines for vertical growth on straight wire or twine (1 vine per wire) for best growth and snip the other shoots.  As rhizomes spread over time allow about 3 feet between vertical runs.  You can use lattice or a fence type trellis, but straight vertical lines are best for growth and later clean up in fall when all foliage dies off. Don’t expect much flowering in year one, but Year 2 growth and hop yield will be substantial. For maximum yield, try to locate in an area where you can get at least 15-18 feet of vertical run on a stout string or wire.  The ideal set up is a wire on a pulley or eye bolt, which can be pulled down to harvest.  Rhizomes will spread out on their own if you want more hop plantings, best to divide plant in early spring or late fall.  Harvest hop cones (flowers) late in September as the outer cone “leaves” just start to dry out, curl and brown.  Air-dry or use a food dehydrator to properly dry out hops before storage or use.  For long-term storage use vacuum bags or ziplock baggies to unitize hop volumes and store baggies in glass jars to prevent oxidation.  Hops are susceptible to certain moulds and aphids.  Proper spacing, organic sprays and ladybugs can help.
