MakerBots seem to be able to do at least some of these parts well:


I believe the group that posted them used nylon powder in a selective laser sintering (SLS) machine.  Those machines are mad pricey. However, I believe that Shapeways' "white, strong, and flexible" material uses the same material and process, so you can order pieces on demand right now!

Todd: the Replicator?

As a parent, I have stepped on pieces of all but two of those (ZomeTool and Fischertechnik) in the dark. Legos are the worst, Gears and Krinkles aren't terrible. I look at the universal adapter brick like a mouse looks at an owl. Beautiful, scary thing that is very complex and wants to hurt me.

Yea.   Pool some money and we can get a discounted replicator for the node.  I previously said I'd throw in $500, and we had a total of $1100 or so committed including that,  but since I'm not there anymore and wont be using it, I can't afford that much.  I will still contribute $100 so that the Node can have one.  Plus, the discount we'd get will make up for the difference.

We'll need to know the full price-after-discount so we know what the goal is. :)  What did Bre quote you?

I think (hope!) Mark may have the full list somewhere, but I have lost track of who was offering what.  Can we get a list of that here in this thread?

I know that I am in for $300 and I think Amy is in for $100, so that's:
  • Todd: $100
  • Amy: $100
  • Marty: $300
For a total of $500 towards either $1750 (single extruder) or $2000 (dual extruder).  I know I am leaving some people out, but I don't want to list somebody who didn't pledge anything and force them to say "no, I didn't say that." :)

      I'm in for $100 and if we sell the cupcake that is about $600. I'll look for the list but I think it makes more sense to have people repledge. I think we may have some members not on the discussion list so I'll move this and the totals over to the members list.
