Dear Archivematica User Community-
Many of you are aware that in recent months and years we’ve been working on making Archivematica available to be translated into other languages (see our initial announcement here). In Archivematica 1.7 we made many parts of the interface available to be translated, and we’re currently working on making the workflow labels available to be translated.
Simultaneously, Artefactual Systems has been reevaluating its translation subscription with our current service provider, Transifex. Effective this February, we’ve decided to move our translation projects to a Weblate server which we will host ourselves. Weblate is an open-source translation solution that will allow us to maintain the translations ourselves and control the costs (Transifex is a paid subscription service).
It will take us a little time to get the Archivematica projects set up on our new Weblate server so there will be a down-period of a number of months when we can’t accept any new translations. If you’ve been meaning to do some translating, now is the time! You have until February 1st to contribute translations to the Archivematica projects in Transifex (instructions are here) before we integrate all current translations into the project and shut off our Transifex account.
Thanks so much for your participation and we’ll keep you all posted on when translations will open up again!
Cheers,
Sarah
