If I try to upload a file to the SD Card, the transfer fails. It
works OK if I upload to internal storage. I have a new Samsung Galaxy
Tab 7.0 Plus. The server log has a "STOR" entry with no error message
but the file doesn't transfer and I get error messages on the client
that the transfer didn't occur if the target is the SD Card
(extStorages). I checked the app permissions and it has
android.permission-group.STORAGE

Hi!

I checked some forums for that problem,
it could be a permissions problem.

if your device is rooted, you could try the following to see if it
solves the issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20869996&postcount=7

I will look into it.

My device is not rooted and I'm not sure I want to try it. Thanks for
the quick reply. Let me know if you get a new version of FTP Server
that includes WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE and I'll try it and let you know if
it works.

Andreas,
Was the 2.0.0 version supposed to fix the problem addressed in this thread?  I updated to version 2.0.0 and it still won't write to the SD card on my Galaxy tab.  Get "insufficient rights, file does not exist or other error" in the ftp server log on the tablet for the STOR command.  The permissions for the app on the tablet do NOT include WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE referenced in the XDA-developers forum.

Hi.

I will have a look into it.
Actually it SHOULD contain the permission.

Stay tuned.

Hi!

I read some more, and actually I fear I must disappoint u:
It does not seem to be a permission issue after all:

from this thread post:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=18559#c26

it looks like it is not possible to write to sd card at all :(
Unless applying the root file permission change.

Sorry to disappoint u.

Br,
Andreas

Andreas,
I read the thread below and, besides all the Google trashing, it was sure difficult to follow.  In any case, there must be a way to write to the SD card on Honeycomb.  At least one app on my Galaxy tab does it - Polaris Office.  I don't know how it does it but it works fine writing files to the SD card.  I've checked it multiple times to be sure that's what it is doing and it is definitely writing to the SD card.
