Anyone interested in setting up a sample continuous deployment workshop or something? Maybe a few us might want to get together and work thru the setup of an ideal continuous deployment setup, from client dev machine images all the way thru to functional build server and final production deployment?  With validation gates and everything?

I think, if we worked through this and maybe even video taped parts of it, we could setup a great how-to process and hacking session out of it? I should probably write it out more, to describe exactly what I'm thinking - but so far, does it sound like something anybody would be interested in?

Yep. Interested.

You thinking any platform in particular?

Also, I imagine we'd could deploy to VMs in the cloud?

Adron,

I'm interested.

Sounds like you have several bites already.

Leaning toward any particular technology stacks?

My thought so far is to use AWS or even VMs at Azure. I'm sure one of those groups through some connection that some of us have might throw a few $$ credits our way. In all reality, it's about the only viable way to really do it anyway. I don't know a single place with enough hardware and...  so yeah, we'll definitely do it in the cloud.  :)

As for tech stacks, I was thinking - since this is the ALT.NET group, we might want to dive in with a .NET stack implementation first. Hell, maybe even - if we have the skills with the team that dives in - try to do a Java, Ruby/Rails, and even PHP app stack if we can. The more the merrier in my opinion.

My main goal of course, would be to get at least 2 client dev "images" push code into the workflow and having something drop on a publicly accessible server at the end of the process, with some number of arbitrary "gates" that we'd setup along the way to assure certain criteria are met.

I'll pull together the names, and will start looking for a place w/ good connectivity to get this thing happening.  :)

Cheers,
Adron

To get really fancy might want to go beyond web apps (i continuously deploy dahlia through teamcity and github) and go to continuous deployment of say ... A Windows service ....

When might you be planning this event?

In the future.  :P

Snarky answers aside, I'm hoping to get something lined up for either February or March.   :)

Here's some kick off questions. Anybody got some ideas for where we could meet to do this? Space w/ good wifi, easy to talk, etc.  Probably for 15-20 people I'd suspect (unless there is an even larger # of ppl that want to attend ).

Cheers,
