David Lane, who was not a member of Eckankar, discovered a number of things about many teachings said to come from Eck Masters. Subsequently, both Harold Klemp and Doug Marman reportedly (according to Doug) discovered plagiarism as well. It means they have known about the plagiarism for thirty years! Iow, Harold knew about it in the 1980s before he started his talks on the subject of Paul Twitchell, of his life and writings, etc. And Doug Marman knew about it years before he published his two books. Don't take my word for it. Read it for yourself.
"[...] As for the Astral library dream, this is unfortunate that it has become
misunderstood in this way. I cover this in my book as well. I know that some could say that I am just offering another interpretation, but how do I know my
interpretation is the correct one? The reason I feel confident is because Harold talked with me about the whole issue of Paul's plagiarism shortly before he had that dream and gave those talks or started writing about it. He was quite straightforward and told me that even though it might be hard to swallow he was discovering a growing list. I know Harold was not happy with what he had learned and felt that Paul had left him a mess to clean up. This is exactly what he says at the end of his Astral Library dream as well.
"If you read Harold's actual words, you will see that David Lane is wrong. Harold does not anywhere in his talk say that Paul got his information from the
Astral Library, therefore it was not plagiarism. Harold never says that. What
Harold does say is that the Astral Library is a source of great wisdom that some of the greatest writers have access to it. It is an inner source of truth about the path. Also, from the information there, Harold could see the sources of all of Paul's books, since it was all in the records there. [... .]"

Those quotes are best read in context to the whole response. I chose those two paragraphs on account of the details, including the mention of plagiarism; what Harold and the Eckankar website apparently does not mention. In fact, far as I know, Harold has not publicly mentioned the word plagiarism in connection with Paul Twitchell and the Eckankar writings. Nor (not to my knowledge) does he explain why Eck Masters appear to speak words that Paul Twitchell plagiarized from the creative works of other authors.
Maybe other words to explain "the mess" were chosen instead? Examples:
Where did the ECK teachings come from?
https://www.eckankar.org/FAQ/index.html#wherefrom
"What about claims that the modern-day founder of Eckankar, Paul Twitchell, borrowed freely from other authors in writing his Eckankar books?"

Evidently, no mention of the words "ECK Masters" or "plagiarism" in those two answers. However, Eck Masters and plagiarism is precisely what I have for many years used this newsgroup to ask questions about. Had I ever asked Eckankar, or brought this up directly with the main office? I mentioned already that I did, but I want to keep the responses to myself. All I will say is that it seems the buck stops with the leader of Eckankar, Harold Klemp. Most people look to him as a guide and a master (members at least), but seemingly the master wants people to find some things out for themselves.
Umm... O.K. What then?
Members of Eckankar are freely allowed to dialogue, discuss, research and talk about the VERY INTERESTING topics of Eck Masters and plagiarism? Are free to do this both publicly and at Eckankar events? My research, posts and finding of many more examples of plagiarism are testimony of the former. As for speaking about such things freely at Eckankar events, maybe it is something people have been doing for years as well.
