The 3D Model of Dealey Plaza: Not quite a job of Titanic proportions,

Undoubtedly, the initiative born in JFK forums has the potential to be the
most detailed, extensive and technologically advanced project of its kind
ever made. The question is: by when will it be doable? Frankly speaking, I
had my doubts about its technical feasibility, given current state of the
art. Will our high standards have to be compromised? Will we be forced to
create something marginally better than its predecessor by PBS? Will it
amount to no more than a lame "Me, too" imitation?
Rest assured that any doubts have been dispelled. There is a similar, of a
grander scale project with much in common to ours: both bring history to
the present in tremendous accuracy and aesthetics, both are linked to
Massachusetts, both happened in a date that became remembered forever,
both are heartbreakingly tragic. In one, 3 people died, in the other,
1,517.

You need to DUPLICATE Dealey Plaza in ALL details perfectly at 100%
scale. Then we can do some real tests.

those who can't tell an algorithm from a logarithm should participate in
the Numerical Solution.
I just discovered something really neat, for those of you who don't have
experience with 3D modeling software. It can be not only hard but damn
expensive. Mike McCormick, my mentor, creator of the most advanced 3D
model of the shooting ever done (*), much acclaimed in this NG said:
"Ramon, you should get such-and-such software, it is affordable, you
know how in this business everything can be ridiculously high priced"

The tool that you guys and gals need in order to view, enjoy, criticize
the models being assembled in *your* repository is this: Windows 10.
Couldn't believe it myself.
If you look inside this filesystem:

You will find files with many extensions. Some are rather arcane (read:
need expensive software to be displayed/manipulated). Notice all the
file extensions in the limo model:

The OBJ and FBX (Filmbox) file formats are very important, as they were
specifically designed to port models across incompatible apps.
Download for instance, these 3 manhole cover files:

(the ones inside the folders OBJ and FBX.)

Lithography) are too detailed, good for 3D printing or actual
manufacturing. Simplify, simplify, simplify. In engineering school, the
professors kept on telling us the KISS principle: "Keep It Simple,
Stupid!"
