Undoubtedly, the initiative born in JFK forums has the potential to be the
most detailed, extensive and technologically advanced project of its kind
ever made. The question is: by when will it be doable? Frankly speaking, I
had my doubts about its technical feasibility, given current state of the
art. Will our high standards have to be compromised? Will we be forced to
create something marginally better than its predecessor by PBS? Will it
amount to no more than a lame "Me, too" imitation?

Rest assured that any doubts have been dispelled. There is a similar, of a
grander scale project with much in common to ours: both bring history to
the present in tremendous accuracy and aesthetics, both are linked to
Massachusetts, both happened in a date that became remembered forever,
both are heartbreakingly tragic. In one, 3 people died, in the other,
1,517.

Back to our little corner...

On Wednesday, I will be receiving an early present from Santa (Spanish: El
Ni??o Jesus): a computer in equal class as those used in the colossal
production above. The software will be exactly the same.

After all, the task at hand is not as daunting as many had predicted.

"First, I must thank you for demonstrating that a project of that
magnitude, with so much beautiful detail is feasible. For years, a few
friends and associates have been doing the preliminary work towards a
project that has many characteristics in common with yours. People used to
tell me that is was technically impossible, now I simply send them the
link to your YouTube video and mention that I have the demo running in my
not-very-powerful laptop. Needless to say, time and technology are on our
side."

Look at the work by this guy, Jared Owen:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BW6hxlThB_o

The White House is his most popular model -1.7M views- but he has also
done Buckingham Palace, Empire State, etc.

https://www.youtube.com/user/captainranic/videos

His simplified style would be a perfect introduction for newcomers to
the Dealey Plaza events.

ps: I am told that there are no official photos of the 4th. floor. I
guess we will have to resort to Plan B: Ask the media.

http://jfk.boards.net/post/200/thread

That is a project in which *everybody* could be involved.

You guys are thinking too small. Forget scale models.
You need to DUPLICATE Dealey Plaza in ALL details perfectly at 100%
scale. Then we can do some real tests.

Good. Nobody is replying. Sometimes one needs some sort of
"announcements only" thread.

There is much technical stuff that I have to teach and share here. Even
those who can't tell an algorithm from a logarithm should participate in
the Numerical Solution.

I just discovered something really neat, for those of you who don't have
experience with 3D modeling software. It can be not only hard but damn
expensive. Mike McCormick, my mentor, creator of the most advanced 3D
model of the shooting ever done (*), much acclaimed in this NG said:

"Ramon, you should get such-and-such software, it is affordable, you
know how in this business everything can be ridiculously high priced"

[Details for newbies in next post]

which will be continuously updated, built before your eyes and under
your instructions.

The tool that you guys and gals need in order to view, enjoy, criticize
the models being assembled in *your* repository is this: Windows 10.
Couldn't believe it myself.

If you look inside this filesystem:

http://www.dealey-plaza.org/this-government-as-promised

You will find files with many extensions. Some are rather arcane (read:
need expensive software to be displayed/manipulated). Notice all the
file extensions in the limo model:

http://www.dealey-plaza.org/this-government-as-promised/kennedy-limo/SS-100-X-Kennedy-Limo

The OBJ and FBX (Filmbox) file formats are very important, as they were
specifically designed to port models across incompatible apps.

Download for instance, these 3 manhole cover files:

http://www.dealey-plaza.org/this-government-as-promised/sidewalks/manholes/Elm%20Street%20Manhole%20v1/1a-Manhole%20Cover/

(the ones inside the folders OBJ and FBX.)

Windows 10 comes ready to show 3D files, with two aptly named apps: "3D
Viewer" and "3D Builder"

Both will display the manhole cover and allow you to rotate it, zoom
in/out and pan.

-Ramon
JFK Numbers

Note: Unless you have a powerful PC or a lot of patience, don't download
complex objects such as the limo, Coca-Cola machine, etc.

The purpose is to invite ALL NOTABLE DOCTORS, ALL UNIVERSITIES, leading
schools of 3D design and post every file and result as soon as it is
produced, something unprecedented in 55+ years.

Oh, have I mentioned my secret weapon? Sweet Caroline?

Unprecedented as well.

Are you saying that you people will object to all the above?

If the reactions witnessed here don't reek of desperation ...

Not an original comment.

(1) When I first proposed this, in the JFK Factoids forum, after I
mentioned my Sancho Panza of those days (Mark Messer, from Poland and
Sweden, current one is from the Netherlands), Willy Whitten asked:

"Did I read well? Are you guys building a replica somewhere in Europe?"

http://jfkfacts.org/dale-myers-on-the-state-of-the-jfk-case/#comment-832831

I replied: "With models we can study to micrometer, nanosecond precision
the effects of a bullet as it traverses hard cranium and soft cerebral
tissue".

It is not easy to stretch and shrink mortar, wood, glass, steel (*)

(2) A few weeks ago, one of the Notable Doctors told me:

"Ramon: People don't understand models and trigonometry, why don't we
just have a limo 3D printed, we tow it across the Plaza and show that
there is no possible line from the sniper's nest, piercing Kennedy and
Connally?"

I told him: "Sir, I am afraid to show you this:"

(*) As Dale Myers did with the limo dimensions.

For those who prefer to keep things simple and use a browser only, we
are trying to upload most models as soon as they are produced to the
Sketchfab site:

Pristine Trash Can (needs to be banged up):
https://sketchfab.com/models/cb1176fc16594615bd4c2357c9678a41

Poster with Cute Girl in Roller Skates:

Coca-Cola Vending Machine:
https://sketchfab.com/models/f2d31eb0ddac4d21944df7dcc4af6d28

They enforce a 50MB maximum file size, however. Therefore, I could not
upload the very detailed USPS Mailboxes. Working on simplifying them a
little. You guys don't care about the internal mechanisms, hinges,
screws, right? You do? See note below.

I have news for those who can't tell an algorithm from a logarithm, let
alone a mambo rhythm.

I discovered a new site for youse!! In fact, have had an account there
for years.

That is the place where I discovered the ultra-detailed USPS Street
Collection Mailbox (not to be confused with the larger, shit-colored,
ugly USPS Relay Mailbox).

https://grabcad.com/jfk.numbers-1/models

Silly me: I thought my account was only good for admiring, witnessing in
awe the models created by unapproachable professionals, not for
pedestrians.

Note to Self: Some 3D model file formats (such as STL or Stereo
Lithography) are too detailed, good for 3D printing or actual
manufacturing. Simplify, simplify, simplify. In engineering school, the
professors kept on telling us the KISS principle: "Keep It Simple,
Stupid!"

Indeed. With the model of the Dallas event and all the possibilities made
possible by such an advanced platform: 3D simulations, on demand videos,
virtual reality immersions, extremely accurate measurements, cranium
ballistics, etc. all which will inevitably bring worldwide interest, one
of the 2 prevailing paradigms will definitely sink forever.

Until you move beyond the whining phase, even that seems too lofty a goal

Me, whining? The last announcements were how the JFK Numbers Team can
kick the ass of all previous works. In fact, I sent to Cyril I an e-mail
with the subject:

"Who Needs Oliver Stone when we have JFK Numbers?"

plus the text: "Move over, Ollie!"

where his good friend, that darn Chavista, commie is mocked.

I first need to know whether to work on this or if you prefer to lose by
forfeit. So far the number of LN people who have given a response (both
equally worthy!)

[Yes] [No]

is zero.

Therefore, youse are declaring yourselves to be insignificant,
irrelevant and hence, inferior.
