Hi Everyone,
Don't rely on Daniel or I (or others who volunteer/present a lot) to organise the Adelaide.rb events because we're too often busy and right now clearly Daniel and I are quite busy and so for the first time in a long time we have no upcoming meetups. Normally I have ensured we've always got 2 in the pipeline and maybe it was discussed at the last meeting but hasn't been scheduled on meetup.com.au yet (which is the important thing in the end).

Please suggest talks you can offer or want to see.

I would like to see 2 speakers in each of February and March
* Someone who has never spoken or spoken only once in the last 12 months (Only needs to be a short talk - e.g. 5 mins - great for introducing a cool gem or tool/plugin you're using)
* A short or long talk by anyone

I'll start:
I can do a small talk (but would prefer less frequent speakers to do a talk) on Jasmine js testing including advanced concepts such as using it with Continuous Integration.

Deadline for 5 February/5 March talks proposals are this Friday Midnight

Feel free to use this email list to suggest talks or venues and even start hosting the meetups at your companies offices. Daniel and I would appreciate more co-organisers. (Perhaps a 3rd co-organiser and we each organise/host every 3rd month - just a thought)

Whilst we talked about moving venues this has been left to Daniel who's busy at the moment and to be honest we're only hitting limits occasionally and even then we manage well (great idea by those who used the window ledge as seats). If we're continually hitting the limits then we should review the venue.

Regards,
Michael Noack

Hi all,

If there's interest, I'm happy to do a talk on Eventmachine & AMQP. The idea would be to build a basic ruby app in front of everyone with the focus being on using asynchronous code & message queues as a possible strategy for scaling. It'll be a little bit contrived but hopefully fun for people who haven't had a chance to use either of these before :)

Thanks,
Chris Teague

I've been doing some work with Nokogiri and streaming SAX parsers. I could do a talk on that if anyone is interested?

Great to see some offers.

Now we just need someone who hasn't spoken before (or only spoken once).

Any takers? (Only need a 5 minute talk) - Even if you know nothing about X, do a talk on X, that way you can finally learn about X. I do this all the time.

If anyone wants to see more mruby, I can do a talk on mruby applications - MobiRuby (mruby on ios), anyone? This is not to say I prefer this over the other ideas! I'm happy to go either short or long, in February or March.

Hi guys,

If you don't mind putting up with a first time speaker fumbling along I could give a very basic talk on Refinery CMS in March.

Thanks,
Nick

I don't mind at all. In fact that topic is of high interest to us at work. We would love to switch from Radiant to Refinery. So March it is.

I'll do a talk in March on Radiant as I believe this will complement the month.

Now we just need a first/second time speakers for February? (Only need a 5 minute talk)
