All projects on the free tier are public and there is not yet team collaboration. What about BitBucker? Unlimited public/private repositories w/ team collaboration.

Yes for team collabration and a private workspace you have to pay for it :) That's the catch.

c9 supports bitBucket as well as gitHub and joyent.

For version tracking it uses mercurial and one more I guess.
