Some interesting comments from Zac concerning the finale and the ending scene on the beach.

I watched this.  I didn’t see any Zach comments about the ending or scene on the beach.  Did I miss it?

The one thing that I did notice was when they talked about guest star villains, Brandon Routh’s, who was in the most episodes of any guest star, name was conspicuously absent.

My bad....I didn't watch the 2 clips in full.

Based on write-ups and reviews elsewhere on the tubes of the interweb of the live panel discussion at NerdHQ, it was mentioned that Zac asked the assembled audience if they were disappointed in the ending........so he and the cast are obviously aware that the finale did not strike the right chord for a lot of fans of the show. As a actor, while both he and Yvonne gave the final scene their all, it has to be personally disappointing to recognize that on a certain level, the final scene was a failure if you have to spend all this time explaining and persuading folks that it really was a happy ending.

It must be.

I hope no one gave them the feeling that they had any personal culpability in what happened in the finale, since that would be grossly unfair. I liked what they did with what they were given.

I think that it’s entirely possible to absolutely love the ending from an artistic pov, admire the performances, and yet loathe the way they left the story and even feel it a betrayal.  BrickRoad and I have this argument all the time, to the point where we’ve agreed to stop talking about it.

Based upon the comments I read, both here and in my reviews, I’d say that is a majority opinion.  But I’ll freely admit that is antidotal and not scientific in any way.

That’s what the Mel’s of the world don’t seem to get.  And since they are the only people that get to talk directly, that view is never expressed except in forums,

I admire that Zac was courageous enough to admit that feeling was out there.  It’s farther than anyone else associated with the show has been willing to go.   Certainly not Fedak, who is the true villain here if there is one.

At one point in the panel, AB made a rather snarky reference to the fact that neither Fedak nor Schwartz was there.  At the time I wondered what he was trying to say.
