Congratulations – you are about to be the one of the first to test F-Secure’s new App Security in the cloud

 

F-Secure Freedome is introducing brand-new antivirus technology that is fully cloud-based and relies on information submitted by its users. The more Freedome users there are, the better and faster you are protected.

Unlike traditional antivirus products, the protection is not based on scanning every app in the device and regular virus definition updates, which can slow down your device. Instead, Freedome checks the safety of every app based on its reputation in the cloud, and only if the app is unknown, it is uploaded to the cloud for scanning. This means that Freedome App security is always up-to-date, light on resource consumption in your device, and gives you the best protection.

 Freedome App security is now in beta testing. Currently, we have limited the scanning to take place over WLAN only, but mobile scanning will be enabled soon.

Try it out and feel free to share the beta program with your friends as well.

 Freedome supports Android 4.0.3 and later versions.

 

Ready to get started?

 

1.       Join our Google group. If you have problems, sometimes tapping the Desktop link at the bottom of the page helps.

2.       Visit this link and click BECOME A TESTER: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.fsecure.freedome.vpn.security.privacy.android.antivirus

3.       After becoming a tester, click the link Download F-Secure Freedome VPN AV from the Play Store at the bottom.

4.       Your device may ask you how to complete the action, select Internet or your browser. We’ve noticed that some users have had difficulties if they have selected Play Store.

5.       Click Install, select your device and click Install.

Troubleshooting tip


If you have difficulties in joining the beta group, please choose the Desktop version link at the bottom of the page or join the group on your PC or Mac. If that doesn’t help, you can also contact us and give us your Google Play username and we add you manually.

If you see an error message on Step 2, you have signed up for the Google group with a different email address than your device uses to connect to the Google Play. Re-join the group with the correct gmail account here: https://groups.google.com/d/forum/f-secure-freedome-antivirus-beta
