What application are you using to view the videos, and on what
platform? Also, can you provide a link to a video that shows this
behavior? Thanks.

This issue is with HTML5, not WebM specifically. The spec requires the
browsers implement this behavior for full screen as a security
measure, to keep bad sites from spawning fullscreen windows that look
harmless (impersonating the OS password prompts and the like). If you
try Chrome, you'll see something similar.

This is a security feature. Can't be circumvented (or shouldn't be) so unfortunately you have to just live with it for now.

Here's a link that puts up the "now fullscreen"message: http://revision3.com/tekzilla/lock-cloud-files

1. Load the page
2. Click the "expand" icon (the four diagonal arrows that  point outward from the center of the icon)
3. The video will expand to fill the screen and the message will pop up at the top center of the screen while the vid plays.

I determined that this is a webm video by usinf FF's "Tools>Web Developer>Inspect" command, then using "Select element with mouse," and clicking on the video in its unexpanded state. This reveals:

<video style="width: 100%; height; 100%" src="http://videos.revision3.com/revision3/web/tekzilla/0403/tekzilla--0403--lock-cloud-files--large.vp8.webm?embedType=html5&amp;playlistType=video_id&amp;playlistId=18087" tabindex="0" id="rev3-player" class="mejs-rev3" preload="none" height="1012" width="950"></video>

Many other vids from other sites have given me this problem, but I have not noted their URLs.

Apologies if I am simply dense and confused about something simple. I certainly feel dense and confused...but I can't find a way to get rid of this message. Many thanks.

Yep both Chrome and Firefox has this annoying  "Poping Up big black boxy message" every time you try to full screen a video. Off course this is a security feature, but I believe that security features like this should've a filter option available. So users can easily white-list most visited OR trusted sites.

When it comoes to Firefox, toggling "full-screen-api.approval-required" preference to false will disable both "is now fullscreen" notification as well as first notification with "enable" and "block" buttons - it looks like this equals "allow enter fullscreen" by default.

However if You denied a sites to enter fullscreen (e.g. can always be changed trough sites "permissions" UI) denial will take effect but You will not be notified that plugin/<video> tried to do so.

When I click "full screen" - I obviously didn't want to allow it full screen. C'mon I understand the security spam aspect, but jeesh. Yes it's such a small thing and sounds like "someone always complains about something" - but the fact is, it's a pain - at least fade it to transparent after like 3 seconds.

Hi,

Seems like this thread Googles well for the full-screen video warning,
but it's not a topic for WebM Project and should be taken up with
whomever makes your web browser.

Thanks, and cheers,

No problem. We try. ;)

There are hacks to suppress the warning ...

https://www.google.com/search?q=full+screen+video+warning

... but one really should think twice (or more) about using them. More
and more, legitimate remote desktop and virtualization solutions serve
the remote system's GUI as a video stream that updates based on click
events, etc. It's surprisingly usable. If the good guys do it now, the
bad guys aren't far behind, hence the browser warning. Word to the
wise.

This list is for WebM. Consider filing a feature request with Chrome.

This fixed it for me -
Now the full screen message hides after appearing for a couple of seconds like it always did before.

Note -
The image that appears when you click the link in step 1 is the actual Flash Player Setting Manager, not an image.
The "Global Storage Settings" is the 2nd tab. Move the slider to 100kb. Test.
