Why it’s Best to Avoid using ZOOM Configuration from a Workstation Computer.

Although it is possible to install ZOOM Configuration on all workstations, it is recommended to limit the installation to a few, or even install it only on the server. This approach helps avoid several potential problems : 

• Configuration Lockout by Another User : To avoid configuration conflict, only one instance of ZOOM Configuration can be connected at a time.  It’s necessary to close a ZOOM Configuration session before opening another one.  This can be problematic if you don’t have access to the workstation in question.

• Risk of Configuration Errors : Limiting the number of people with access to ZOOM Configuration helps prevent configuration errors, such as unintentionally deactivating or activating alarms, sensors, automatic measurements or conditional measurements which could quickly saturate the database.

• Problems Related to Installation Differences : Different plug-ins can be selected during installation. Error messages may appear if the list of plug-ins is not identical between the server and workstations. For more information, please consult the following message:

• Potential Maintenance Issues: In the event of a software update on the server, it is necessary to update the software on all workstations using ZOOM Configuration to ensure safe operation. ZOOM Application software is less sensitive and can generally be used without problems during a minor update. It is important to note that this concerns not only the software version, but also the presets and hardware settings that can be updated locally for specific hardware or functionalities at your site.
