Hello Iraia,
Thank you for contacting Genome Browser. We apologize for the inconvenience and will try our best to help out.
What you may have experienced is a quirk in our site, where our US and European sites operate with different session databases, meaning that you must be sure to log in to the correct website. This is done to make load times as fast as possible. The first thing to check is to make sure you are on "Genome-Euro" instead of "Genome". As I mentioned, these websites do not share the same Session database. Please login to your account and check for your sessions on both of these pages:
http://genome-euro.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgSession
http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgSession
If you still do not see your sessions, could you please provide me with your userName, login email, or the name of any sessions that are missing? I did not see any accounts under that email on either site.
I hope this was helpful. Please reply to genom...@soe.ucsc.edu.
All the best,
Daniel Schmelter

Hello Iraia,
We are happy to share that process for transferring sessions, which involves saving and then re-uploading to the new site.
You can save session settings from the session page with the "Save current settings to a local file" feature. This will save a file that has Genome Browser settings that can be uploaded through the "Use settings from a local file" upload feature. This process saves references to Custom Tracks, which are unfortunately site-specific and will not be saved to the settings files.
To transfer Custom Tracks, you will have to download them and re-upload them. This can be done through the "Save Custom Tracks" feature from the sessions page. Full explanations of these features can be found on our Sessions help page:
http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/hgSessionHelp.html#Create
We do not have a solution for saving or transferring many sessions at once, but you may be interested in this process that uses links to save setting and Custom Tracks to local files, which can then be opened on either site. First, get a list of session names, then perform the following process for each session link. The third step is only necessary for backing up Custom Track data. Here is an example of saving a session:
1. Load the session via link:
2. Save the session's settings to a local file via link:
http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgSession?hgS_doSaveLocal=submit&hgS_saveLocalFileName=bigGenePredCT
3. Save any Custom Tracks manually by using the Save Custom Tracks feature (3rd option in Save settings):
I understand this process is complicated and time-consuming. We are actively working on making our sessions more compatible across sites, but this will take a while still. You may want to stick to using genome.ucsc.edu to avoid this session transfer process if the loading times are acceptable.
