Dear ACL SIGTURK Members,

I hope you are all well and thanks to everyone who made our first workshop at ACL possible. It was a great opportunity to see all of the impressive research in our community and allow discuss and share our ideas for future collaborations. I hope you enjoyed the program, and if you missed the workshop, you can always access the processings on the ACL website and learn more about the details of the recent research in our community.

I am writing to share with you two updates in our organization to help us stay in touch on our research and academic activities after the workshop.

SIGTURK Academic Mentorship Program: In order to allow our academic community to grow I am happy to announce the SIGTURK Academic Mentorship Program which aims to support academic studies of our new or existing members. If you're interested in applying to graduate programs this coming fall, and you'd like to receive guidance and feedback on your applications, the program will offer mentor matching according to your target program and location. It also allows our members from different experience groups meet each other and discuss their ideas and research interests. All members, especially ones pursuing academic or research careers and have experience with applications to graduate school (master's or Ph.D.) programs are encouraged and appreciated if they can provide mentorship to a selected member interested in applying this upcoming year.
If you're interested in being a mentee or a mentor as part of the program, please fill out the form online: https://forms.gle/Dnsf4mTCBHyPag4Q7

Discord channel: In order to allow our members stay in touch about their joint research interests, and for allowing more direct collaborations on our ongoing research projects at SIGTURK, we opened a new channel for communication on Discord. Please feel free to join using the link: https://discord.gg/5244qNYx

Please feel free to join our monthly meetings or contact us if you have any proposals, suggestions, or simply like to be involved in organizational or research activities of our community. Our weekly calendar is accessible on our website to indicate public events: https://sigturk.github.io/calendar/

Thank you and wish you a pleasant day.

Kind regards,
Duygu Ataman
