If I create a new measure on an existing process definition and save it:

1) do I need to put the new process definition into the Production version of the project to have the measure become active?

2) is the measure calculated for existing processes, completed or not, and of current or previous versions of the project?

Hi,

In order to calculate measures for old instances, you must call a variable that has been calculted in your old instances, and then, if you put the variable as measure, the server will calculate it but you will have to wait a moment to get the calculated result.

Rds,

I defined a new measure on a process which has many (several thousand) old instances. As far as I can see, the measure has not been calculated for ANY old instances, only new ones created since the measure was added.

How is it possible to have a new measure calculated for old instances?

Is a new measure calculated for existing process instances that are marked as Completed?

Your measure must refer to a variable already calculated in your old instances, else it will not be calculated.
Yes, even  completed, the measure should be calculated.

I can confirm that this is not happening.
I have defined a measure that simply refers to the value of a variable already defined and calculated in all existing instances.
The measure has not been created in any process instance marked Completed prior to the creation of the measure.

Are you making a process report to see really if the measure was calculated?

I created a process report that retrieves all process instances created since a date in June, grouped by month and day. I then expanded individual instances created prior to the measure creation date, and others created after the measure creation date. The first group have no measure defined on them. The second group have the new measure defined and with the correct value.

You say that a new measure is created and calculated for all existing process instances (that have the required variable(s)), whether Completed or not.

My experience suggests otherwise.
I created a new measure on 19th June, and can show that any process instance created before that does not have the measure, while all those created since do.

How can I get the measure created for all existing instances?
