Hi everyone,
I would like to start discussion around this topic and define a plan to get YourKit licenses for ONOS; we have been lagging behind this for a long time and I believe now is the right time to start this process (also seen the upcoming changes for Atomix).
Here is described the process for the open source licenses: https://www.yourkit.com/java/profiler/purchase/#os_license - I would like to get advises from TST about this topic (probably no need to setup a call).

Thanks
Pier

Hi Pier,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I’ve been heads down with preparations for a presentation.

I know this tool has proved very valuable to me in the past and I know that Jordan has used it heavily, so we should definitely make sure we keep up with its release. I see that the stipulation of the free open-source license requires that YourKit is mentioned in the ONOS web pages. I presently don’t see a good place to locate such mention, but we could perhaps work with Denise to create a section below our partners, members and contributors to insert a brief mention.

Alternatively, we could just pay the fee, though the floating license is pretty costly. Can I ask you to issue a query to YourKit sales to figure out what the “mention” exactly entails?  We can than figure out how to best comply with it.

Thomas

Here's an example we used in Atomix https://github.com/atomix/atomix (See the bottom of README)
I believe we just need to add a similar reference to ONOS readme.

Thanks,
