Hi everyone,
This is to let you know that we’ve updated the ONOS Basic Tutorial VM and its corresponding Wiki page:
The VM is provided as an OVA file (under 2GB) which runs Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS, Xubuntu desktop and Mininet 2.3.0d1. It runs ONOS 3-node cluster using the official ONOS Docker image for 1.12.0 release. Desktop shortcuts are provided for (re)setting up the ONOS cluster, for launching the ONOS GUI and ONOS CLI console as well as for running Mininet with several different sample topologies; a 2/4 spine-leaf, simulated AT&T MPLS (USA) topology and simulated GEANT (Europe) topology.
The Wiki page has been updated with new screenshots, commands and command output to correspond with the behaviours of the ONOS 1.12.0 version. The tutorial also includes a more comprehensive walk-through the GUI and includes exercise for testing ONOS cluster HA. The intent reactive forwarding section has been removed since the iwd app no longer ships with the ONOS standard distribution.
Other than that, while the command usage has evolved and output was enhanced, I was pleasantly surprised to find significant continuity between the 1.2.0 version of the tutorial - yes, we haven’t updated it in that long - and the latest 1.12.0 version. Once Ubuntu 18.04 comes out and ONOS 1.13.0 is released, we will make sure to update the tutorial in timely fashion. We also have plans to provide an enhanced version of this VM that can be used for the Distributed Tutorial and for general app development.
I encourage you to take it for a spin and provide us with feedback about any issues, inconsistencies or suggested improvements. Cheers…
Thomas
