Dear all,
I have to use Mailchimp for emailing lots of participants in a contact list, but the campaign builder of Mailchimp is not very smooth. For example, adding a block/ removing spacing is not ideal with NVDA.
Anyone used Mailchimp before and can offer guidance?
Thank you in advance!
Yasser

Hi Yasser,

All I can do here is offer sympathy. MailChimp is not fun to work with and the campaign builder is virtually unusable with a screen reader.

Sadly, I can neither offer any tips on how to get MailChimp going with NVDA, nor offer suggestions of alternative services. In my experience, they are all much of a muchness, and not for the better.

If you are prepared to go down the self-hosted route and spin up a VPS, there is Sendy, which we use at the Braillists and which works well. Even then though, we had to script a fair amount of it as it didn't do exactly what we wanted out of the box.

HTH,

Matthew

I know the services aren't identical but Buttondown have a lovely CLI and support markdown-based templates.
If that helps with anyone's future decisionmaking ...

Sorry not to be more help!

Thanks

Sean

I use a VPS to handle one of my email accounts, as well as for providing
various other services. Administration is done mostly over Secure Shell
(ssh), which should be completely accessible with NVDA using the ssh
client included in Windows 11. Initial setup typically requires the
service provider's Web interface, although some providers have command
line tools you can use for that purpose. How accessible the Web
interface is depends on the provider.

Windows Terminal is relatively accessible (or it was when I last used
it), and there is an NVDA script to support it as part of NVDA itself.

Dear all,
Appreciate all the suggestions out here.
I am not fully aware of how to operate a VBS+ I can't control the whole environment that we are using for emails.
One idea I have in mind, which may or may not be doable is to prepare an add-on to make that editor accessible?
Again not sure whether or not this could be done.
Thanks so much, everyone!

Hi.

You can also install sendy on shared hosting, you don't necessarily need a VPS for it to work. What I'm not keen on is if the sendy registration system is offline, it prevents you from logging in. Last year, their servers were offline for around 24 hours and because the software couldn't phone home, we couldn't log in because it couldn't verify if our registration code was valid. So we switched to PHP list which you can also use on shared hosting and it's working extremely well. It's open source, and has support for markdown, wysiwyg  and raw HTML code as well. They also offer a hosted version and you're not paying a penny for it unless you count the cost of shared hosting of course.

Cheers,

Mo.
