I had thought of asking this years ago but now it has become really urgent. Is there a way to save a link to a website and if so where and how? The problem is when I search Google for the name of the place it keeps giving me the wrong thing. I need to fill out forms and that is impossible to do so after each call since I am not able to get the site each time I am on call. Today I have not succeeded getting on and finding it.

Thanks so much.

When you are on the page you want to save the address for, move to the
address bar, control l. Copy the address to the clipboard, control c.
You don't have to move when you move to the address bar, the address is
already selected. So control l, then control c. Then open something
like Notepad, paste the address, and save the file with whatever name
you want. When you want to return to the page, open the file, control a
for select all, control c for copy to clipboard. Then in the browser
make sure you are in the address bar with control l, paste the address,
and press enter. You will return to the page.

You could make a book mark for the page you are on, but you asked how to
save the location so I told you how to do that.

Hi,

I think most of the browsers have a bookmark function. I press ctrl+ D and pick one of the folders I have created to put them in. I will normally give it my own name instead of what is automatically put in. I will also group them by the first word, e.g., financial as the first word for banking sites, investments.

So, I go to my bookmarks folder with alt + f, b and select the folder and then hit the letter f and I am taken to the financial section. It is more-or-less a way to alphabetize the bookmarks.

Best

It is easiest to press f6. This moves to the address bar and selects it at the same time. Then control+c to copy.

f6 doesn't move you there in one press in all browsers. Control l does
exactly the same thing and it works the same way in all popular browsers.

Hi All,

I press Alt+D to move to the address bar. The web address is
automatically selected, so all I have to do is press Ctrl+C to copy it
to the clipboard. And if I want to return to the web page, I press
Ctrl+F6. Works on Chrome.

Just my 2c! :)

Hi Betsy,

I completely understand the frustration of trying to find the same page repeatedly, especially when you are on a call. There are two primary ways you can handle this: using the Bookmarks feature in your browser or copying the URL (the web address) into a Notepad file on your computer.

Personally, I would recommend using the Bookmarks method, as it allows you to open the site directly from your browser without needing to open a separate file.

Here are the step-by-step instructions for both methods, designed to be screen reader friendly:

Method 1: Saving a Bookmark (Recommended)

This method saves the site directly into your browser's "Favorites" or "Bookmarks" list.

1. While on the website you want to save, press CTRL + D.

2. NVDA will announce a dialog box. The focus will be on the name of the bookmark; you can leave it as is or type a name you recognize.

3. Press Tab until you reach the Done or OK button and press Enter.

4. To find this link later, press ALT + B (in Edge) or CTRL + Shift + O (in Chrome) to open your bookmarks, or simply start typing the name of the site in the address bar, and your browser will suggest the bookmarked link.

Method 2: Copying the URL to Notepad

This method creates a permanent text record of the link on your computer.

1. When the website is open, press ALT + D. This moves your focus to the Address Bar and automatically selects the entire URL.

2. Press CTRL + C to copy the address to your clipboard.

3. Press the Windows Key, type Notepad, and press Enter.

4. Once Notepad opens, press CTRL + V to paste the link into the document.

5. Press CTRL + S to save the file. Give it a name you will remember (like "Work Forms") and press Enter.

6. You can now open this Notepad file anytime, copy the link, and paste it back into your browser.

I hope these steps help make your workflow a bit smoother! Please let me know if you need further clarification on any of these steps.

Warm regards,
