In the fraction 2/3, multiply numerator and denominator by 2, to get 4/6.

And why we have to multiply numerator and denominator by 2?

Here's how it works.

Be aware any fraction p/q can be represented in multiple forms when the numerator and denominator are multiplied by the same value.

Thus, 2/3 = 4/6 = 6/9 = 8/12 = .(many more such equivalent fractions)

all these are equivalent.  So, if the set options had 6/9 instead of 4/6, that would have been correct.

Hope it makes sense to you now.

Let us say I should consider marks between 80 to 100 on set A.

And marks between 60 to 79 on set B.

Suppose if I get avg mark as 79.66 for which set I should consider this marks . Generally when it is more than half I.e more than 79.50 we consider it as next whole number 80, should we do same here

This is from Wk-1 problem solving tips.

How can gcd be 'a' if we have 0 (zero) either as a numerator or as a denominator?  Please explain with some examples.

•  gcd(0,a) = a = gcd(a,0)

•  gcd(0,0) is undefined

3.  The snipers aim according to the question it hits M first at his head/body but there is a chance that it can also hit "L" at the feet. Either way just M or both M and L it all depends on the velocity of bullet and other factors but both are possible.

11. You can see that everyone saying and even it's mentioned in the question that round of upto two decimal places and also 3.80 = 3.8 isn't it?

If 10^8 in a second, how come 10^6 would be Nearly 5000 seconds. please clarify.

it is not 10^6.

It's 10^6 * (10^6 - 1)/2.  Recollect the formula is n(n - 1)/2

The value is very to 5 * 10^11

This is equivalent to 5000 seconds.

5 * 10^11 = 5 * 10^3 * 10^8 = 5000 * 10^8.

Now, 10^8 is equivalent to 1 second.

Thus, 5000 * 10^8 is equivalent to 5000 seconds.

Step 1. First identify which one is function of other . Here P(T) is defined, so P=y and  T =x [(Pa) is the unit of y and (k) is the unit of x].
Step 2. compute m.[ Here equation Pv= RT so c=0 , equation in y=mx form. So m=R/v=0.5]
Step3. Put SSE formula, yi= sum ( yi- mxi)^2 .

Compute for A and B observations. You will get the result. Hope, it is clear now.

@Priyanshu

"Based on feedback about the practice tests conducted on 11 and 12 November, we have decided to increase the duration of the final Qualifier Exam to be conducted on 22 November 2020 by half an hour.

Hence, the duration of the exam will be 3.5 hours instead of 3 hours.
Exam timings will be 9am-12:30pm and 2:30pm-6pm.

There is no time cut-off for any particular subject and subjects can be attempted in any order. The entire time of 3.5 hours can be used to attempt any question of any subject."

have a look on this..3.5 hrs instead of 3 hours it is.

In the qualifiers should we use the pn formula or the algorithm used in google sheets to find percentiles?

I see many people saying that the paper for maths and stats was difficult . The qualifier exam was for the admission in the IIT so how can you expect the paper to be easy or moderate.Beside every question which came can be done with the help of what was taught in videos .

You are right, it was not difficult, all questions are solvable, its just the time management, if one had given around 1hr 15 mins to maths, or you start exam with maths with fresh mind, then one can get at least 60-65%.
even I made the mistake of keeping maths at the end and made silly mistakes due to less time.
Would have definitely qualified if I had started with maths, but now its diacy.
