Two PhD Students in Policies for Net Zero Technologies (100%)
These PhD students will investigate policies to speed up the development of supply chains for net-zero energy technologies, like renewable hydrogen. The research will cover national, regional, and global scales and assess policy outcomes such as technology diffusion, job creation, and security of energy supply.
Project 1 will evaluate various pathways for renewable hydrogen supply chains in Switzerland to inform future energy policies.
Project 2 will develop and apply a novel modeling framework, combining agent-based modeling with energy system modeling to simulate supply chains for net zero technologies.
Requirements:
· M.Sc. in engineering or related field
· Strong analytical and communication skills
· Basic coding and modeling experience
Starting dates:
· Project 1: as soon as possible (October 2024)

Postdoctoral or Senior Researcher in Innovation and Diffusion of Carbon Dioxide Removal (100%)
This researcher will investigate aspects such as innovation, scale-up, and diffusion of carbon dioxide removal (CDR), and address organizational, institutional, or technological questions related to CDR. Key potential topics include innovation ecosystems, policy design, governance structures for carbon markets, entrepreneurship & finance in CDR, and CDR in company climate strategies. The position is for one year, with the possibility of prolongation for several years. The starting date is negotiable, but we aim to fill this position by winter 2024/25.
Requirements:
· PhD in a relevant field (management, applied economics, policy studies, or engineering/climate science with social science experience)
· Excellent academic record with potential to publish in top-ranked journals
· Team-oriented with strong communication skills
